From now on, advisers as well as specialists with an interest in the area can find important information regarding the recognition of healthcare occupations in the anabin database. How is the foreign training structured? Is the professional qualification regarded as complete? What is the name of the foreign professional title and the German reference occupation? Information from the Central Assessment Agency for Healthcare Professions (GfG) can answer these questions. This information was previously reserved for administrative bodies only but is now publicly available with immediate effect.
The anabin database of the “Central Office for Foreign Education” contains the details of around 550 healthcare occupations from 125 nations under the heading of “professional qualifications”. The database documents foreign qualifications leading to one of a total of 24 recorded professions regulated by federal law in Germany. These include academic medical professions such as medical practitioner and pharmacist and healthcare occupations such as general nurse and physiotherapist. Healthcare occupations regulated by federal state law such as care assistant occupations or medical specialist qualifications are not documented.
Information about responsibility for, and providing details on, the recognition procedure for the German reference occupations is provided in the Profi-Filter and the Recognition Finder in this portal.
