25,000th recognition notice
Success even with partial recognition
Success even with partial recognition
The 25,000th recognition notice from IHK FOSA went to Luka Jovanovic from the Frankfurt am Main area. The 21-year-old received confirmation that the training he completed in Serbia was partially equivalent to the German reference occupation of “Information technology specialist specialising in applications development”.
As this example shows, notice of partial equivalence can also lead to employment. Luka Jovanovic has now found a position as an information technology specialist. Furthermore, following refresher training, the path to full equivalence is now also open to him. In either case the German recognition notice means that the professional competencies of skilled workers with foreign professional qualifications are clear for employers in Germany:
IHK FOSA (Foreign Skills Approval) is the national centre of excellence run by the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for the purpose of assessing the equivalence of foreign professional qualifications from the IHK sector. Since 2012, IHK FOSA has been conducting recognition procedures for 76 member chambers.
Key information regarding responsibility for and the process of the recognition procedure e.g. for the reference occupation “Information technology specialist” is provided in the Profi-Filter and the Recognition Finder in this portal. The advantages even of partial equivalence for labour market integration is also shown in the evaluation report of the Recognition Act.
