14 dual occupations restructured

Two new, and twelve modernised dual training occupations were launched for the start of the new training year on 1 August.

The training regulation and exact title of the German reference occupation are the basis for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications. The new training regulations for dual occupations enter into force on 1 August: Two new additions and twelve updates.

Inland shipping captain and kitchen specialist are the two new training occupations which have been added. 

In the hotel and hospitality services industry, the following six occupations have been updated.

  • Qualified professional in the hospitality sector (formerly specialist in the hospitality services industry)
  • Restaurant and events catering specialist (formerly restaurant specialist)
  • Specialist caterer
  • Specialist in the hotel business
  • Hotel management clerk
  • Cook

An updated training regulation also entered into force as of 1 August for the following six occupations. 

  • Inland bargeman/woman
  • Railway worker specialising in operational train driving and transport
  • Railway worker specialising in train traffic control
  • Insurance and financial services broker
  • Qualified dental employee
  • Dental technician

Application for professional recognition possible

Skilled workers can apply for the recognition of their foreign professional qualifications as soon as the training regulations for the new occupations come into force.
