Online training in Latin America

The BIBB training team explained the process of professional recognition in Germany to participants from eight Latin American countries.

On 27 and 28 April, the training team from the “Recognition of Foreign Professional Qualifications” division at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) held the online training on the theme of professional recognition for the sixth time. 36 representatives from German-speaking institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Columbia, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru had registered for the event. There was huge interest in particular among study and careers advisers at German schools abroad who often face questions about labour migration in the course of their work. However, staff from the local Goethe institutes, chambers of foreign trade and German missions abroad also took part in the interactive training.

Staff based at the German-speaking institutions often meet people interested in recognition in their day-to-day work and, over two half-days, the online training aimed to provide them with an understanding of the recognition process for a foreign professional qualification. Which documents have to be submitted? What is a reference occupation? And which language skills need to be demonstrated in the process? These and other questions were answered during the training. Participants learned about the “Anerkennung in Deutschland” portal with its Recognition Finder and Profi-Filter and were able to take a look at the Central Office for Foreign Education’s (ZAB) anabin database.

Feedback following the training was entirely positive. “Excellent!” said one participant who was grateful for the thorough documentation. If you also work for a German-speaking institution abroad and are interested in taking part in a training course, please contact the training team at the following address: schulungen_anerkennung@bibb.de
